The Spanish Society for Developmental Biology (SEBD) is happy to bring the community together once again for its next meeting, taking place October 28–30, 2026, in El Rompido (Huelva, Spain); three days of great science, lively discussions, and seaside inspiration.
The meeting will offer an excellent chance to explore the latest experimental approaches and emerging directions in Developmental Biology, while exchanging new data and ideas with colleagues. For the first time, the meeting will also include Plant Development, aiming to broaden the horizons of the SEBD and promote stronger interactions between plant and animal developmental biologists. While these fields have historically evolved somewhat separately, we believe that bringing them together will provide clear benefits by encouraging exchange of knowledge, new perspectives, and closer connections within the community.
Sessions will feature internationally recognized researchers, with a strong emphasis on leading scientists working in Spain. We have also given special visibility to early- and mid-career researchers, highlighting their work and helping foster the next generation of leaders in the field. Oral contributions from selected abstracts will finally be added to the scientific program. The meeting will further host the José Luis Gómez-Skarmeta Prize in Developmental Biology, as well as the SEBD Ph.D. thesis prizes, and will include a special tribute session in honour of Antonio García-Bellido, commemorating his extraordinary legacy and his pioneering contributions to modern Developmental Biology, which have profoundly shaped the field in Spain and internationally.
We are confident that this meeting will offer a fantastic opportunity for lively discussions, new ideas, and fruitful scientific connections in a stimulating and welcoming atmosphere.
We look forward to seeing you in El Rompido for the SEBD Meeting 2026!
